“Respect the Game”
Those three words sum up the philosophy of our team, coaches, and
parents. It is engraved on the pins we traded at the larger tournaments
we played, and it has been our “mantra” since we formed our team in the
fall of 2005.
“Respect the Game” is a reminder of what our players already know, that
playing the game the “right way” is important and valuable, and that
they owe it to themselves, their teammates, their parents, their
coaches, and those who came before them to take on this responsibility.
Respecting the game means that we owe it to this great game to play
hard, play with passion, have fun, respect our opponents and game
officials, and to always give our best effort.
We stress fundamentals by not only practicing them prior to the start of
the season, but right up until our final game. One of our goals as
coaches is to develop our players for high school. In addition to
teaching them the game, our efforts are geared towards helping them
develop a love for the game so that they are eager to put in the work
needed to improve as they get older.
Having fun, avoiding “burnout”, developing a deep pitching staff during
our league games (scrimmages), and making sure a player knows how to
play more than one position are a few of our “philosophies”. We would
like nothing more than to have our players answer their high school
coach by saying “wherever you need me” if asked what position they play.
We believe that team success typically follows the development of the
individual player, and enjoy the opportunity to work one on one to help
our players improve.
